Following the 2001 crisis, which resulted in the cancelation of the country’s full membership, Argentina comes back to the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, which gathers 43 member countries. The International Organisation of Vine and Wine, comprised by 43 member states, will count Argentina as a member once again. The law was passed during the last formal session of the National Deputies Chamber, carried out on May 21st. The project was submitted to the National Congress, with an agreement format, under the signatures of the Cabinet’s executive, Alberto Fernández, and the Minister of Foreign Relations, Jorge Taina, towards the end of January. Hence, Argentina is re-entering the organization as a member, after the economic-political crisis faced by the country in 2001. At that time, payments were suspended, which resulted in the loss of full membership. Only after 2003, the country has been on the road to recovery. The International Organisation of Vine and Wine is an inter-governmental organism of scientific and technical character, relating to the world of wine, table grapes, raisin grapes and all other products derived from grapevines. Among its main goals, it seeks to indicate measures to its members in order to contribute to the creation of strategies for improving grape-growing and winemaking production, taking into account both producers and consumers.
